Old Style SIG P220 mainspring seat HELP

Help,

I own an older model SIG P220; no rail, made in Germany, old checkered grips with no logo. I want to buy the new P220 Factory Slim Grips for this pistol. However, I discovered from TopGunSupply.com that the new slimmer grips will not fit properly with the models utilizing the "old metal mainspring seat" as opposed to the "new style black plastic mainspring seat" the current models have. I want to install these grips on my old SIG as I unfortunately have small hands and would like my favorite gun to feel more comfortable when shooting.

So is it possible to replace the old metal mainspring seat with a new plastic mainspring seat on this particular model SIG P220? Has anyone tried doing this? What are the risks, if any? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
bnf

I've been looking around for help on this matter. I've tried to join Sigforum.com but I can't seem to be able to register. I get an error message that says my email address is banned from the site. Are there any Sigforum members here that can help me out?

Thanks,
bnf

You would need to change out your spur hammer, sear, hammer strut, mainspring, mainspring seat, hammer reset spring and possibly hammer stop.
