Old springfield and steel shot

I am an avid duck hunter. I use a Benelli Super Black Eagle which has performed flawlessly. I also have a Springfield 20 ga., model 67F that I used many years ago. It has a modified choke. I would like to try this gun on short range decoying birds. My question is, will steel shot be compatable with this gun, or should I leave it in retirement as it has been for many years. Thank you in advance for any replies.

Steel shot will work fine through your modified barrel. I like #4 or #2 shot for decoying ducks.

It will work fine, try the 3" #4 shot, or 3" #3 shot if you can find it.

If the ducks are in really tight (25 yards or less) the #6 steel is incredible, it kills them really well.
