Old Shotgun

Hey guys, I'm looking for some info on grandpa's old shotgun. On the side, part of the stamp is wore off but from what I can make of it, it's says Springfield Arms Company Chicopee Falls MASS U.S.A. The serial number appears to be hand stamped, A 62xxx. It's stamped on the bottom of the barrel as well as on the inside of the receiver. Looking for a little history, when and where it was made and what value it has. Thanks for your help.

Research Stevens, J. Arms Company. Springfield was a trade name used by
Stevens. They used the Springfield name on less expensive models so as not to degrade the Stevens products. Still very good shotguns, the finish was not as well done, the wood may have other hard wood than walnut, but the heart of the shotgun is Stevens. Stevens itself was taken over by Savage in 1920. Stevens produced a number of utility grade "working mans" shotguns under various Model numbers including the Stevens 94. There's not a lot of collectors interest in these old singles, their value is as shooters and working guns. A Springfield in exc condition lists for around 125 to 150. In very good, 75 to a hundred, Good 50 to 75, fair 25 to 50, poor as in good fence post, 25 for parts.
