Old reliable GI .45? Cheapest?

:) Got an old timer in our office who wants to start looking for an old reliable GI .45 to hold and reminisce about.

His daddy had one but died and willed it to a nephew, so my friend is still pining for one.

Any recommendations on a cheap, reliable one?
 
Does it have to be a USGI 1911A1? Those are getting expensive to buy. The Argentina Systema 27 is inexpensive, well made (on Colt machinery by Colt trained workmen) that compare well to the Colts of the time (and better than many 1911A1's on the market today).

Remember, cheap is not inexpensive.
