Old "Kimel" 22LR

My father received a 22LR western 6 back in the 60’s or 70's as a gift. While he was still at home but dealing with Alzheimer’s, he removed the shell ejector rod assembly from the barrel and subsequently lost it (or hid it somewhere, who knows where) and no we didn‘t let him have any shells. He is now deceased and I have taken over the gun which is fun to shoot but the only way I can eject the spent shells is using an aluminum rod through the hole where the ejector rod should go. I cannot find a model number on the gun but it says on one side below the cylinder “Made in the USA for Kimel Industries, Matthews, NC” and on the other side “Western Six, Caliber 22L.R.”. The Hammer has a gold finish to it, the barrel is approx 4.75 inches and the grip is wood. Does this sound familiar to anyone and if so how could I get in touch with someone about a replacement ejector assembly? If you need pics to help, I can e-mail some.

Guess I've stumpped everyone with this question. Would more info or pictures help? Or does everyone not give a damn about this gun? Maybe everyone hates me :(

I found this info on a list of firearms/accessories distributors.

Kimel Industries Inc.
P.O. Box 335
Matthews, NC 28105
1-800-438-9288

I'd seen the name in the Blue Book, but the few guns listed, a carbine and 4 semi-auto pistols, were made were from the early '90s. Here's the blurb from the BB.

"Previously manufactured until late 1994 by AAArms located in Monroe, NC. Previously distributed by Kimel Ind. Inc. located in Matthews, NC."

I've seen a couple of these Kimels at a pawnshop around here. Unfortunately, that shop went out of business. I remember that the gun was very similar to the FIE-Heritage single action 22's. If you have a gun shop, or gunsmith, in the area with a parts box, you may be able to find a matching part. Good luck.

To: johnbt, thanks for the info, I'm going to give them a call.

To: drmagnum, that is my next step. I've delt with a local gunsmith before and he had lots of spare parts and parts guns around. I might get lucky.

Went to the local gunsmith today. He pulled out a catalog and gave me the website for gun-parts.com. Found the parts I needed. I'll give this gunsmith all my business from now on. Great guy.
