old High Standard 8-shot .22 revolver - questions...

I have a feeling that someone out there will be able to shed some light on this revolver. My F.I.L. gave my wife a pistol her grandmother "used to put under her pillow when she slept". It's an 8-shot .. revolver made by High Standard.

I suspect it must be pretty old but it seems to be in very good condition. Can anyone tell me anything about these? Good? Bad? Value?

Thanks,

You probably have a Hi Standard Sentinel. I've got one, too.

Decent revolvers, nothing really special. I used to shoot mine quite a bit. It was a lot of fun.

I think they were made from sometime in the 1950s until about 1970 or so, maybe a bit later.

They came in several barrel lengths (I have a 6").

Not worth a lot of money, but they are decent little revolvers.

I'd second Mr. Irwin's response.

I think Sears sold a bunch under their house brand name as well.

I sold one to a fellow employee about a year ago. A Sentinel Deluxe. I paid 100 bucks for mine used. I only owned it for a year, then sold it, then bought it back, then sold it to this fellow. Mine was a decent shooter, nothing special, and I am not really a wheelgun man. I wish I was, 'cause I like the looks of a nicely blued revolver.
