Old Guys & the Banana strike again

This one is missing a good piece of his tail, as you can see by the hand next to it. Even with about a foot of tail missing he's well over 12 feet and a easy 600#. Not quite as big as the last one but still very good. Would have been 13+ with the tail.

Snagged him early but had a lot of trouble getting him to a point where we could set a harpoon. As he was big, and being very uninterested in having one pull off, we were going to set 3 of them before we hit him with the bangstick.

It was at this point that we realized we had left the rest of our harpoons in the gator the wife and I caught last week. Did not have any more. That's when we called a friend. He was already at the ramp but he ran the 15+ miles down to help us. The pictures he took were a bonus. And they helped with hauling the beast in which was another bonus.

Y'all are a bunch of wild men!!

So, the old banana trick worked again!
Do you think that the single banana is more effective than the double?

These stories and pics are great, keep 'em coming!

AWESOME!!! And by the way, I have to come clean: I was the one who bit that piece of his tail off...but only b/c he provoked me!

I think your single handedly improving the bass population and Roland Martin should sponsor some of your trips. Thanks for saving those bass as I plan on coming down there to fish sometime soon;). By the way, your last gator huntin partner was alot easier on the eyes than these 'ole hardankles'. LOL!

You had better hurry on down or we'll have all the bass caught up too!

Five fish, 37.5 pounds. Needless to say we won that tournament.

Your starting to get on my nerves:p:D:D. Makes since that a fella that gets the big gators, gets the big bass also. Seems as though every time I got into big bass hanging out in a certain area there was always alot of gators around the area also. The food chain thing ya know. Did you catch thoughs on shiners in the St. Johns?

Tournaments have to be fished with artificials.

This was in the spring and the fish were at a peak of the bedding cycle. We catch a few every year in the 10 pound range by sightfishing them. When things get right it can get downright ugly.
