Old Glocks / New Glocks

I have an old style Glock 23, but was checking out the new style Glock 23 and 23C(with finger grooves and accessory rails) at the gun show today. While I didn't have mine with me to compare side by side, the newer style seemed slightly more comfortable. Does anyone have any experience with this? Are there any other drawbacks to the newer style pistols?

Don't be tempted, they are just more expensive. Unless you are SWAT, and need a rail, what are you going to do with it? I have both in a G21's, and the older one is more comfortable.

The only drawback is the finger grooves don't always line up on everyone's fingers correctly. You seem to not have that problem.

9x45, I've never seen a 3rd gen Glock cost more than a 2nd gen. version (considering they are both unfired). How did you come to this conclusion?

I've a very old G17 (actually a 17L with a 17 slide) as well as a newer G19 (I suppose this would be the 2nd generation style).
The 19 has Hogue grips on it. This gun fits my hand extemely well...a natural pointer. Now the 17 seems a bit odd by comparison.

I suggest you try them on your 17.

I think it is a hand fit thing. I like the new grips better, but i have heard a lot of people say they prefer the old style. It is a matter of preference.

I have Glocks in both the old and new styles. I really like the new style. I suppose I like the finger grooves. Having the ability to slap a flashlight onto my pistol is really handy too. Still, to each their own.

My best friend is envious of the accessory rail on my model 22. He keeps telling me to get a flashlight for it. I don't see the need though. I just know it is comfy as all heck for me.

I've got a 1st generation Glock and a 2nd. Generation. I've played with but not fired the 3rd generation Glocks, but because of my small finger width I find the groves are uncomfortably far apart. Or maybe just different...... Doesn't feel right to me, which is enough for me.

I can't say that I've missed an accessory rail on my pistols much. The only reason I think I would use it is so I could buy the latest toy, try it on the gun and then discard it as limited value. :)

Hay! that could be why 9x45 stated they are more expensive, 'cos you can buy a whole lot more crap to add to them :p

Don't really know if true or not, but I heard that the FBI adopted the old style Glocks.
Anybody know?

I like the new style much better . I sold my old style framed guns and bought a new style 19 and 21 . The finger grooves fit my hand to a T and I like the rail for an M3 tac light , which I keep on the 21 . Good luck , Mike...

slickpuppy, makes you wonder, if or when you send your "old style" Glock back for repair, will they fingerprint it?

.357Sig,
They will fingerprint it if you send it back and I won't send it back to them for repairs. I do all repair myself and have enough spare parts for the rest of my life. Even refinish the slides myself.
