William Moore was an old and well respected London gun maker. His guns were labeled William Moore & Co. until in the 1870s when a merger begat Moore and Grey.

Chances are, your gun is one of many wannabees. In the 1890's you could get a gun, like yours, from Sears and Roebuck labeled Wm. Moore for $3 and change.

Dixie Gun Works might have a hammer.
Or, you might have to replace both to keep a matching pair. Just make sure they are same size and have same opening for the lug.

As stated all authentic William Moore shotguns had the full name engraved, yours is a Belgium made gun trading on the name. From the 1880 untill 1911, and the during the 1920's and 30's Belgium shotguns were imported to the U. S. by the boat load. I have been told the sometimes the entire ships manifest was nothing but trade name shotguns. If you pull the fore arm you should be able to find the Belgium proof mark, ELG in a circle or oval , should be topped by a crown.
