I found an old 94 Winchester today. It is old and rusty. Ser.# 93### puts
it back to 1897 mfg.. It is chambered for and marked on the barrel as
.38-55. The barrel is stamped with the Winchester name and address in
two lines near the mid-point of the barrel. The barrel measures 26 in.
from the muzzle to the back of the action ring. The magazine is 14-3/4 in.
from muzzle to metal forend cap. The tang is stamped with the maker,
model and patent date in three lines. In addition to the tang screw there is a small screw 3/4 in. behind the hammer.
All O.K. so far.
The kicker is: NO SIGHTS, FRONT OR REAR and no evidence of any
dovetail slots or any holes.
Any ideas ???
