Ol' Jeb just won't let go. It Seems. Regardless of the countless judges who have ruled on this Schiavo case for 15 years. I thought we would be done hearing about this after the medical examiners had done what they had to do. I am tired of the grandstanding by Jeb bush. Here is a link to the article. Give me your thoughts on this subject. We all agree the story is a great tragedy, but I want to know what you all think of the continued attacks on Michael Schiavo regardless of the court rulings.

Gov. Bush wants investigation into Schiavo 911 call

Terri Schiavo died March 31 after her feeding tube was disconnected at her husband's request.

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (AP) -- Gov. Jeb Bush asked a prosecutor Friday to investigate why Terri Schiavo collapsed 15 years ago, calling into question how long it took her husband to call 911 after he found her.

In a letter faxed to Pinellas-Pasco County State Attorney Bernie McCabe, Bush said Michael Schiavo testified in a 1992 medical malpractice trial that he found his wife collapsed at 5 a.m., and he said in a 2003 television interview that he found her about 4:30 a.m. He called 911 at 5:40 a.m.

"Between 40 and 70 minutes elapsed before the call was made, and I am aware of no explanation for the delay," Bush wrote. "In light of this new information, I urge you to take a fresh look at this case without any preconceptions as to the outcome."

Michael Schiavo's attorney, George Felos, did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment Friday from The Associated Press. In comments in The Miami Herald, he said Terri Schiavo would not have survived if her husband had not immediately called 911.

"It's absolutely preposterous," Felos said. "If he had waited 70 minutes she would have been dead."

Terri Schiavo died March 31 from dehydration after her feeding tube was disconnected at her husband's request, despite unsuccessful efforts by her parents, Bush and others to keep her alive.

An autopsy released Wednesday concluded that she had been in a persistent vegetative state and revealed no evidence that she was strangled or otherwise abused before she collapsed.

It left unanswered the question of why Terri Schiavo's heart stopped, cutting oxygen off from her brain. The autopsy showed she suffered irreversible brain damage and her brain had shrunk to half the normal size for her age.

Well the judges beat him over the head and put him in his place so now he wants to get even I guess.

Good to know our politicians are wasting our tax money on personal vendettas.

I'll not bash Gov. Bush He did sign the stand your ground law here in F.L.
And if I'm not mistaken this is a forum for firearms.

My Mistake

My mistake. I thought this thread was about Legal and Political. I seem to remember seeing a few thoughts that had nothing to do with firearms.

But I do thank you for your thoughts. And your sure right, he signed a good bill that should be a model the rest of the country. That being said, he would not have done it if it did not benefit him, or his career. He certainly is not going to intentionoly hurt his career. And also I am not encouraging bashing the man...unless of course thats how you feel.

From the forum description on the top page...

"Round table discussions range from the Bill of Rights, to concealed carry, to general political issues.

There were plenty of grounds for Jeb Bush to direct the State District Attorney to launch a criminal investigation into many aspects of Terri's case while she was still alive. I wonder why he has suddenly got all excited about this now that she is dead.

Grand standing is what politicians do when they have no other means to garner public notice.... You're surprised by this?

I wonder why he has suddenly got all excited about this now that she is dead.

Revenge, hubby won in court, now Jeb needs to recover some pride. Figures since Terri is dead he might be able to turn this into a murder case...

I hate the Schiavo case..

I hate it worse than I hate ar15's

I hate it worse than I hate the color brown...

Why?? Because of it, I have several members of my church that refuse to speak to me after I disagreed with them...

Why wont they let it go?? simple...They cant...Why?? it is in people's nature to refuse to admit that they were wrong...They also wont admit that they trashed a man's reputation beyond any semblance of repair, when he didnt have it coming...

There are many people walking this earth that should thank there diety of choice that Micheal Shiavo doesnt have my metality

Well I think Jeb should check humself iinto the hospital get a tube for urine, one for feeding, and some diapers to poop in for about three weeks. Plus wear something over his eyes where he cant see....

I would hope that if anything happened to me that was in question (since they ruled out the "cause" of the collapse that was previously stated, bulimia) that someone would keep on trying to find if I was a victim of foul play and that the person or persons that stole my life as a functional human being would be brought to justice.

I don't know if Michael did something, didn't do anything, or if this is just a vendetta by the governor but Terri, alive or dead, deserves that a full investigation is undertaken to ensure that she was not put into that state by the hand of another.

I know that many will disagree with me on this one, but as a human being I feel that everyone deserves to have all questions answered to why something happened to another that I loved, or even just my fellow human being.

actualy 45.. i agree with that to an extent. I to would want that for me, if there were some evidence that something was amiss. And i know some think there is. I think i would be a whole lot more behind the effort if everyone had not gone so far out of their way. Including jeb bush. i mean one case can make congress make an emergency bill that gets assed in 1 night, while everyone else is on vacation... I guess the fact of the matter is, is he has something against michael schiavo and he wants to continue to drag him through the mud. He could have asked for an investigation without calling a meeting with the media. All of these allegations have gone through the courts for 15 years. And the very last thing he can grab onto is michaels recolection of what time he discovered her and what time he called 911. If my wife had collased and wasn't breathing i do not for 1 second think i would even consider the time, and that would continue untill i was sure she was going to be ok...then maybe i'll have some free energy to care what time it is. I don't believe any of you would be any different. It is clear jeb wants blood or money for having been rebuffed so many times. Of course i mean the settlement money from the malractice lawsuit. I think jeb and others will try and kee this thing going untill he no longer has any money or will left to fight back. And his life will then be sufficiently ruined for defying the will of the bush family.

Before this is locked, I will opine that the Schiavo case led the Bush Boys and Tom Delay (among others) to disgrace themselves. They also damaged conservative causes by becoming irrational fanatics as compared to upholding the value of nonstate interferrence in one's private business.

The evidence was clear before her death that she was brain dead. I feel for her parents who could not think rationally about her fate. The politicians used her for their own personal gain and thus were despicable.

Some value friends of mine feel that it was right to preserve her life as the strong should protect the weak. I would agree except that in this case the facts were clear. The politicians were only seeking personal gain from using her.

Jeb by continuing this, shows that irrational streak in the Bushs to ignore facts for some dream world of their own creation.

gfxezrd,

I disagree with you. If your wife were on the floor, not moving, would you take over an hour to call for help?

I understand your hatred for the Bush family. Hell, they put a father and son into office (well, I guess we did, go figure) and many want to ensure that Jeb Bush doesn't get the same chance. I understand.

Yet, to just toss this aside the way that many wish to, that don't want the questions to be answered, is unsettling in the least.

I'm not looking at this from any political view; I could care less about politics or what people will do to enhance their careers. I am looking at this in a humanitarian view, what caused this state, why did the husband not allow therapy, why did he wish so badly for her to die?

People say that she wanted to die, that this was humane, but I am on a different page, if she were supposed to die then God would have taken her. And I think He did at the end, but only to make a point on why and what happened.

Call me a Jesus freak on that one if you wish, I take it as a compliment now.

Have you ever thought that Jeb is destroying his political career on this one just because he cares? The case didn't go over well with about 49% of Americans and he is still going ahead with this. I don't think that he's doing it to make a run for President; I think he's doing this because if no one else does, he cares and want to find the truth. His career is finished because of this, and if it turns out that Michael was involved, why is it wrong for him to pay back monies that he got and then be jailed?

I wasn't suggesting i would not have called. That is the only thing i would be thinking of is getting her assistance. I am saying I would not have been looking at a clock. And i don't think you would be either. i would have called for immediate assistance or would have raced to an ER. Since I am very close to one. I believe all of the humanitarian issues were worked through over 15 years of court findings. And as i said before... No i do not think he would endanger his career. If he had not had alot of other oliticians on his side we would not be having this discussion. Granted there is alot of folks that did not like what he did, but its only the ones in florida that matter. And he is doing alot of things floridians want. We forget as time goes by when there are other things going on.

Gun rights advocacy can not be the only measure of a man's character, if it were then the Klan would be full of good men.

This so called new information that Jeb is basing this investigation is not new at all
The accusations were made long before Terri died. If this info was so important and credible why was it not investigated during the straw grasping sessions that took place during the posturing phase of the incident.

And no, 45 bulimia was not ruled out as the cause, there was just no medical evidence of it found in the autopsy.
What evidence of chronic puking and nutritional deficiencies would there be 15 years after it would have happened, especially if you were in a persistent vegetative state for those 15 years

This has what, precisely, to do with civil liberties surrounding the responsible ownership and handling of firearms?

I'm closing it as Off-Topic. The facts are: It's unrelated, it's devisive, we each have our own opinion on the subject, and none of us is going to be convinced otherwise.
