'Ol Crooked Stick

Just a story I thought I would share.

My first gun was given to me at 14 for the purpose of deer hunting. It is an old Mossberg MKii 5500. Truly a bird hunting gun, with the classic 2-bead sights, it did not do so well with slugs.
Neither did I, the first time I shot it, I fell flat on my butt. Its kinda junky, but it was all my dad had to give me.

The slugs it liked best, (or hated the least) were the Brenneke KO's 2 3/4". At 50 yards you had to aim 6" high and 6" right to hit where you wanted it to... Hence the name 'Ol Crooked Stick. He had tried different chokes and ammo combos, but that was the most consistent setup he could come up with.

I eventually got pretty good with it, I have 2 bucks on the wall thanks to the gun, and my dads training. Both pretty good shot placements.

I since have bought my own, and don't take the Mossberg out anymore. That'll be for my kid to learn with someday when I have one.
