Okay....What's THIS gun?

Not certain, but I think it's an early German SAA near-clone by Sauer and Sons. early to mid 20th century.

If so, it's an ancestor of the EAA Bounty Hunter series.

It looks like a 1949 Roy Rogers cap gun except for the dull finish, dark grips, and "real gun" looking details. Maybe it's a Gene Autry.... :D

definetly not 1 of Gastons guns!
most likely a revolver.
made of some sort of metal.
probably shoots bullets.
and if you look close enough it has barrel.

WRONG WRONG WRONG ...Harrumph!

It is the famed "Texas Ranger" 3/4 size copy of Colt SA as distributed by the exclusive company of Sears Roebuck and imported from BELGIUM (like a fine Browning) around the turn of the century and was priced at about $3.50 to discerning buyers.

:p

Mine (yes I will admit it is mine) is .38 Long Colt and the former owner must have been Billy The Cheapskate. When I got it, I took off the grips and the mainspring was broken and someone repaired it with the neatest hand carved piece of wood filling the grip frame and holding the broken part of the spring so it would still function. Would like to know the story of whatever cowboy had such a cheap gun but took such pains to keep it running.

2 digit serial number so doubt they set the world afire with sales.

Its the infamous "XP2 Super Modulating Disruptur" that Bugs and the green Martian are always fighting over!
That Martian was goofy. Why would a guy with an "Eludium Q36 Space Modulator" ever bother to fight over a bogus little disruptor? Go figure!;) :D :D :D :D

of the century and was priced at about $3.50 to discerning buyers.
$3.50 in 1900 would have been a sizeable chunk of a weekly paycheck. I roughly figured it to somehwhere around $300-$600 for today. (large spread because of the huge disparity of wages at the time)
Then figure in the way Sears has always done business being roughly the same as the way Wal Mart today buys products so they can offer, say a Rem 870 for less than or close to what a small gun store can buy them for.

Somewhere between:
EAA Witness as opposed to a real CZ75.
or
Mak vs PPK.

Also factor in that turn of the (1900) century Europe and Gr. Brittan were complaining about the unfair practice of importing *cheap and shoody made US goodS* (Yes, Virgina 100 years ago our overseas relatives were grousing about the US the same way we grouse about Taiwan today). Made in Belgium could have had a signifant premium attached to it.

Wooden block = fabulous piece of living history.

As for the other stuff (my speculation above), way too many variables to figure correctly.

take it back

I'd take it back to Sears and make them replace the spring. "Satisfaction Gauranteed"! They probably still have parts for it.

D.
