Okay, I finally got pulled over...

And, apart from it being your basic revenue gathering operation, it was my fault - Expired plates (of course, it _is_ only the 2nd...)... Cop was very professional, and while I was expecting a request for the cosmic vehicle to be searched (grateful dead and NRA stickers, and my nice purple Uncle Mike's fanny pack in the passenger seat), no such luck. License and insurance, and a $40 ticket, and I was on my way... No big deal.

Where you hopeing to have trouble, and if so why?

He said expecting it, not hoping. Big difference. Kind of like are you carrying cause youre hoping for trouble or expecting it?

This supports something that I always suspected, that like any other group, 99% of LEOs are OK people and the 1% that buggers it up makes the rest look bad.

I think the unfortunate choice of words that prompted the question was "no such luck." That makes it sound like he was hoping to be searched in order to be confrontational. I doubt that's the case from the little I know of Bogie but that's the way it sounds.

Well, it woulda been interesting to tell y'all about the look in the guy's face when I told him "no, you can't search my vehicle," but since I didn't even get to the point where I could say that, hey, it's a moot point...

Or, conversely, if he went ahead anyway, I wonder what he woulda done when, upon opening the trunk, the first thing he'd see would be a loading block of empty .22 PPC cases and a reloading press...

You folks must be off on your personal estimates of what per centage of the vehicles we stop actually get searched.

Well, I'll be the first to admit that I fit more than a few profiles...

Long haired, bearded, hippie-type.
Car has NRA stickers on it, including a life member sticker.
Car also has Grateful Dead stickers on it.

Purple butt pack, made by the Uncle Mike's holster company, was on the passenger seat. So, when I saw the flashing lights in the grille of the car behind me, I figured that the officer would likely find an excuse to go looking...
