I heard that, Tommy.
Gore wants to change the document that made America great. Scary.

I sure as he** heard it  I wouldn't vote for that a**hole if the world was on fire and he promised to invent water
Bush / Cheyney for me but I think it should be the other way around ;)
Cheyney / Bush I would like better. But I'm willing to give them a chance.
Had enough with Klinton and his Klone ;)

It gets scarier. I said something about it to my wife the next day. She hates Gore on some kind of personal level, but this quote didn't bother her. "I just think it means it should change with time."

Now, it turned out she thought he was talking about the amendment process, but it just points up the fact for me that most people have NO IDEA what Gore was really talking about there. Why did Bush not hit him right there? And if there was a valid reason, then when Gore started slinging the words "code words, we all know what that means" around, why didn't Bush counter by asking what the code words "living document that must change with our society" really mean?

Yeah I heard 'im, I'm sure as shootin' not voting for that loony bin escapie! G.W. is about the best choice out there for someone who can win.

... But as for me, give me liberty or give me death!

Yes, I heard that too, and was overcome by the public out-cry over such a statement.

Looks like Halloween has arrived early with Gore in Reagan costume at the first debate. Wonder who he will impersonate in this week's debate. Maybe it will be a chicken farmer, as he now claimes to have raised 10,000 chickens!

The threat to our Constitutional rights can not be clearer. There is only one way you can protect what rights we have left. A vote for George W. Bush will ensure there will be NoGoreNoMore and, hopefully a return to principles that made this country great.
GWB is our only hope for now.

Red lights and bells when I heard that !

Hey Al, the "code" for "strict constructionist" judges is this -

The Constitution says what it means and means what it says. Period. No additions, deletions, clarifications, or "interpretations" are necessary. Pretty simple, huh ?

constitution : the body of fundamental principles or established precedents according to which a State or other organization is acknowledged to be governed.

In this way, the Constitution is kinda like the Bible - interpretation can enlighten certain things, but in essence it says what it means and means what it says, in plain language. Anyone who's interpretation is contrary to what the plain words say is on thin ice theologically.

Beware anyone who mentions "constitution" and "interpret" in the same sentence.

Was giving the women the right to vote a bad thing for you strict constitutionalists?

How about the use of the Constitution to end desegregation?

That was probably not in the minds of the Founding Fathers.

I know that people want to be absolutist on the 2nd but the spill over is just plain silly.

One day, we might see other changes as society changes - like when we let women vote.

Sorry to challenge the groupthink.

You didn't challange any groupthink, Socrates.

There is a world of differance between total disregard for the Constitution and the natural process of ammendments.

Al is a leftist internationalist. The Constitution is an irritation for people of his statist ideology.
