Ok guys We all know whats going on with the BATF but I'd like to know who has sent their FAL back? I'm going to call DSA tomorrow and find out how long I can wait before I send the rifle back. I'm going to wait until I hear what happened to YOUR rifle before I send mine in. I JUST GOT IT 3 WEEKS AGO!!!!!!!!!!! ARGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone doesn't know yet the ATF changed its mind on the Evil Muzzle brakes the STG58 has on it and they are making DSA recall all of the rifles to do "I don't know what". I don't know if they are altering the muzzle brake or just taking it off? This kind of nonsense seems to be happening more and more. I remember reading I think Sportsmansguide.com got in trouble for selling SKS muzzle brakes a few months ago.

Yeah, specific information would be helpful.

Emoting at length about the idiocies of our most favorite federal agency is not.

No, Jeff, it's LOTS of fun! I can go on at great length about the mouth breathers in Gummint employ! :D

Doesn't provide useful info, unfortunately...:(

Well I just got off the phone with DSArms and they said............................... The muzzle brake is coming off and there putting a nice new piece of metal on it with no holes and it serves no purpose. Now the ATF will be able to watch my FAL SHOOT FIREBALLS out the barrel. I'm getting 4 free magazines and leather mag pouches out this but its still annoying especially since I've only shot the thing once and I've only had it 3 weeks. I better get it back before May 26th because I'm holding a TFL shoot here in PA and I planned on letting my friends shoot it.

Don't let DSArms off so easy

"4 free magazines and leather mag pouches"

Twenty dollars in mags and five bucks for the two double pouches. $25 total for your trouble.

I wouldn't let them get away with attaching a dummy brake. It will severely drop the value of your rifle (at least when my wallet is in the mix).

I hear ya I'm going to get a #@$! load of mags out of this and NO leather Pouches. There supposedly Brand new mags and not the used ones.

Doesn't seem fair to penalize DS Arms. It was BATF vacillation that led to this. (just like arbitrarily ruling certain semi-auto and revolving shotguns destructive devices)

Nobody has answered my question on "How Often Recalls Happen"? I think it was Sportsmansguide.com that got in trouble or whas is Cheaperthandirt? I read it hear at TFL a few months ago.

I don't know how often it happens, but I got a letter from Browning a few years back that said that they had a serial number generating tool that got stuck and made 300 BLR's with the same serial number! They paid for the shipping, but didn't give me JACK for the inconvenience. Not even a silly ball cap ... let alone a magazine ... which the BLR DOES use!

I bought an 80s manufactured Norinco SKS factory modified to accept AK mags. Along about 1993 or so, the BATF#$ks decided that Constitution aside, they were retroactively changing the law and making possession of one with an integral bayonet a felony.
Since I no longer own it, it's not my problem.

I think we should campaign to have them changed to the Department of Alcohol, Firearms, and Tobacco, so they can bust in the door screaming "DAFT! DAFT!"

Along this line I purchased a slip on "Muzzle Brake" from Cheaper then Dirt a couple years ago for my Mini-30. Do you think I'm in violation of the law? I was thinking of taking it to a gun show soon and trying to work a possible trade but was thinking maybe I should remove it first. Geeez. Dang laws.

I can't quite figure out what's happening here. If the manufacturer is recalling your weapon, and you don't want to give it back, why would you have to? They aren't the ATF.

possible nomenclature for the BATF (agent)

Why not refer to them as Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms Agents(BATFAG's)?? :-) :-)

Is it only the DSArms? Reason I ask is that I just bought a L1A1 yesterday with a muzzlebreak. It was listed as new and it has a muzzle break. I'm supposed to get it next week.

You don't think mine will come in with a dead chunk of metal on the end, do you?

Damn, 6:30am and already breaking a sweat.......

It is only the DSA STG58 rifle. The ATF is probable threatening DSA so DSA is complying with whatever they have to. Its not up to DSA there pretty upset about this I'm sure and I'm standing by them.

It looks like this oughta be continued at "The Truth About DSA".

I'm locking this down to avoid parallel threads.
