That's me... Dr. Strangelove... obsessive at all times.

Ok, ok, I'll calm down. I've registered on more than one discussion forum and it's gettin' old, so... I'll leave you with the generic intro:

Been shooting off and on my whole live (I'm 33). Over the past couple of years I've been contemplating owning my own gun. In Oct, 2001 (yeay, I know a month after WTC... I'd be in complete denial if I said it had nothing to do with it) I started shopping and testing different handguns. By Dec 2001, I knew what I wanted-- I started saving and searching for MY gun.

3 days ago I purchased a nickel plated Sig. 229 (.40). My pick up date is 6/20/02, but I've been visiting and shooting her everyday. Usuallly about 250 rounds. Well, ok, I bought her on Monday and have shot 250 Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday-- so I'm an addict. Blame me?

Anyway, I'm kinda obsessive and want to learn as much as possible and totally love forums on the internet.... so, if you guys play nice I'll stick around and get involved in the conversation.

Peace and nice meeting everyone,
Brad

Welcome.

I saw you at the Sig sight. Sounds like a nice pistol. Post some pics if you can, I don't know that I have seen the finish you were talking about.

You will learn alot over here. Lots of love for the Sigs here, and glock, and HK, and Kimber, and, and, and, and,

:p :D

Hey Freak...Im pretty new here and love this place. You will not find another "general gun forum" on the net that has the members willing to help out with some of the most comprehensive, knowledgeable and honest answers.
I love it here.
Shoot well

Did you order your Hogue hardwoods to set that Satin Nickel P229 off yet?? They really sharp...have Hogue Cocobolos on mine and love the look AND feel!

but you know that
"the Pistol is what you use to fight your way to where you left your Rifle", don't you?

and you will need a Shotgun

and isn't the Taurus, a nice back up revolver

and ya know the 50bmg is really awesome

and ya know one of the benefits of buying a 9mm or a 45 or a 5.56 or a .308 is that the ball ammo is so cheap to buy by the 1000 round case

;)

Welcome.
Along with all of the other guns reccomended, you also really need one or two of these bad boys.:) :D

Thanks for the warm welcome...

I've found gun toters to be some of the most polite and respectful people around. This is either cause they all assume the other guy is packing or, the just ARE nice and friendly people. I certainly like to think the latter is true. Heh, turns out that nearly EVERY stereotype set by the left is just not so.

Anyway, again, thanks for the warm welcome and I'll be around quite often I'm sure.

Oh, are there any good sites (internet) where I can find a custom case for my P229 to replace the blue plastic one? I found a picture on another site (I think the guy made it though) and I immediately thought how nice it would be to have one of these hard shelled metal-type briefcases for the gun.

Also, I see with accessories and the like that this hobby's expense is going to extend far beyond the price of the gun. Why can't I get into something that DOESN'T require breaking my bank account? Everything I do seems to have MUST GET accessories out the ying-yang. :)

The P229 is one of the finest semi's made and I am sure you will enjoy it. The volume of ammo you are pumping thru your new love will not harm her at all. On the other hand it will serve to make you a great shot. If you are new to handguns seek instruction on proper form and technique. As soon as you are comfortable with you SIG take a hard look at one of the action games like IDPA ect. There is a huge difference in standing at the firing line blasting away and true defensive pistol handling.

Finally you may want to consider purchasing a progressive reloader and learning to roll your own. At the volume you are shooting you will save a ton of money.

Welcome...and congratulations!

IMO, you've chosen the finest, out-of-the-box combat pistol the market has to offer.

I have a three-caliber P229 [.40Auto/.357SIG/9mm] and it would be the last pistol I'd sell for any reason.

Mine has in excess of 3k rounds through it and has never, ever failed to fire...no matter what I fed it, from the cheapest hardball to Cor-Bon's hottest loads.

Welcome aboard Doc. Hope you enjoy your stay. The Sig is a sweet pistol for sure. I plan to own one in .357 Sig one day soon. That is, after I get outta the ROK.
