Its a trade the new shotgun for a 20 year old smith and wesson 357 ..still good barrel and nice condition..lol I want it..so what are some good shotguns..not bs ones..but decent shotguns for that price range..if there are any

You didn't say which model of S&W you're trading her ....but in all probability / it might be worth more like $ 500 - $ 800 depending on what it is ...

but in terms of a nice .410 / at a reasonable cost ....Browning makes their Pump Shotgun ( BPS) in a Hunter model in a .410 with a 3" chamber. The BPS - in general is a very good gun / and its no less reliable in the .410 ...vs 12ga, 16ga, 20ga, or 28ga ... They retail new for around $ 500 - $ 525 ...

I like it a little more in the 28ga --- than the .410 / but its because the 28ga is a really versatile gague ( does a lot of things well ).

Lol she is a little old lady..and she likes a double barrel or single shot...and im not sure which model..ill look tonight when I get home

You should be able to buy a new H&R/NEF .410 break-open single-shot for about $120, and keep the S&W.

.

In my opinion - if she wants a .410 .....there isn't anything near the quality of a Browning BPS under $ 750 ...but you should buy her whatever she wants.

I don't have experience with these guns, but Stoeger and Baikal both sell double barrel (o/u and sxs) shotguns in .410 for around $400. My brother owns a Baikal o/u. He doesn't shoot it a lot but it's worked fine when he does shoot it.

As someone else mentioned, a H&R/NEF single shot in .410 is a decent little gun. I have two of them in 20-gauge. They're fun, simple to use and very reliable. Rossi makes single shots too, but I've never used one.
