OK, do I need a S&W M15? Tell me why.

I am a K frame shooter. I like them. I have M10s, M11 and a M19 coming this month. I am thiking about a M66 to mate with the M19. I keep hearing about M15 K frames. ESPECIALLY from Tamara! I might get one. Is the M15 the ultimate 38 Special K frame? I know I will eventually have a M13. Is the M15 a must have???

My 1980-vintage 15-4 is among my top ten favorite Smiths that I own. Accurate, reliable, and drop-dead gorgeous, I'd be hard pressed to part with it...

OK. Do you have that M15 still at the shop? I am considering it. Does it look as good as yours? What are the specs? I am debating whether I will get a M13, that M15 or a (gasp) Colt Police Positive for the collection.

S&W M67 instead of M15?

Sir William:

Have you also considered getting the M67 instead of the M15(since it is the stainless version of the M15?)? Or, do you prefer blued? Just a thought-as I have the M67(No dash #)and I really like it!

My goal is to have the M15 and the M67. I am getting a 6" P&Rd M19 in nickel and I will then seek out a M66 P&Rd 6". M13 and a M65, well, you see where I am headed. The M15 blued model does have classical lines.

Handy,

A Model 15 is, essentially, a Model 10 with adjustable sights (and other minor differences.)

Pre-Model 15 estimated value?

What would the estimated value of a pretty nice condition K38(Pre-Model 15)be? Thanks!

Sounds like your on the road to a K frame 38/357 S&W collection. In that case, you NEED a 12,13,15, 14,19, 64,65, 67..... I'm in the same boat. The 15 is still a aping hole in my collection. Unfortunately, everyone I see is overpriced and beat up :(

After you get your M15 then you will learn that you must have a M14 to complememt it. The list just never ends. ;)

Tamara has one and she says I MUST have one. I said yes dear. LOL IOWs, Tamara bent my arm and I am getting my M15. Thanks Tamara!

I prefer fixed sights on snubs. My M10 RB snub, Colt Lawman MKIII and my Webley are all 2" and fixed sighted. That gives me 38 S&W, 38 Special and 357 Magnum 6 shot revolvers. I do think that adjustable sights are a good thing. A 2" snub with adjustable sights just seems incongrous. Cute though.

sir william. Your goal in life should be to get one of every Smith and Colt wheel gun :D Just IMHO :D . Because of the hollywood auto craze you can find wheel guns cheap. I found a like new mod 13 three inch gun (I mean looks like new!) with two speed loaders and a holster for $200. GD that was a good deal. and yah it's in my safe right now.

I found a bobed hammer colt detective special at about 98% for $200! Good god I think I'm going to get that one to.

Potential gun trade for 17-3?

Sir William:

I have a Ruger RST4S(1 of 5000)Bill Ruger "Signature series" stainless(.22 cal)pistol, "Commemorative"! It is NIB(With papers)! Another fella, has a solid, 98% S&W model 17-3(But no box or papers!)! He is willing to trade me straight accross!

Based on the above, would you think that I should make this trade(Or, not?)? If I go by the Fjestad's Bluebook of Gun Values, showing my 100% RST4, being worth $395 and the M17-3 being worth only $250, in 98% condition, it would look like I would be getting the short end of the stick? However, I'm wondering, if in the real world of actual gun values, if this might not look to be such a bad deal for me(I mean with S&W going to discontinue their K-frames!)? This M17-3 does have the pinned barrel! Anyway, let me know what you might think about making this trade(Or, not?)? Give your reasons? Anyone else, is welcome to comment on this also?

No. You would be upside down. S&W is ONLY discontinuing their 357 Magnum K frames. I would not make that trade myself. If I were going to want a K frame 22 S&W, I would seek out a M48 dual factory fitted 22/22 WMR cylinders revolver.
