My buddy wants to refinish his 12-year-old Ruger handgun, and was wondering where in Ohio can he get a good deal & result?!
His ruger has an extensive holster wear from carrying on daily basis.
I cannot really help him on this matter since I never had anyone work on my toys before.

Inputs are much appreciated!:D

ps. what do you think about Gander Mountain's Gunsmith?
psss. Central & Western Ohio only please.

Where in Ohio does he live? I just had my Smith 386 refinished by Radocy in Vermillion, Ohio. You may have seen those spiral bound takedown manuals with the bright yellow covers. Well, Radocy makes those as well as does blueing, parkerizing and bead blasting services. Since I live so close, I just drop off my projects. But, you can ship them as well. Their website is www.takedownguides.com

I've always had great results and fast turnaround time.

My buddy/hunting partner Darren Williams of Williams Guncare is out of Canton Ohio, here's his number, Home:330-479-2406, Cell:330-495-0494

Anyone from Ohio knows that firearm related "upgrades" are rare or hard to find within the state. I've used Gander Mountain for a trigger job with good results. I know www.SDMFabricating.com is located in Medina, but he doesn't do refininishing work, just custom builds on S&W. Another guy located in southern Ohio does internal and outside "upgrades" on Glocks. The only refinishing work I've seen from other forum members is in Florida or the usual locations...out west or NW. You could try www.gunsmithlocator.com. Good luck.

If you mean central, have him call Vance's Shooters Supply 614-471-7000 over on the east side of Col. and ask them who they use for a gunsmith or smiths. They know where and how to get good work.

Gunsmith in Loudonville, very good and reasonable. Does different types of finishes. I don't have his name right off, but if interested IM me.

I grew up blocks from there, my mom still lives less than a mile away, and didn't even know they were there.....
