Ohio concealed carry.........

SOSARMS

When Ohioans were first allowed to apply for CCW licenses last year, i requested same, and being a very close friend of the Sheriff, was wisked through the process with no delay. In conversations with the Sheriff, i asked him, " How does a LEO know a person possesses a CCL when he stops someone ?" Was told that there would be some warning to the LEO, but nothing more....
Well, last night i found out....
Was driving back from a wedding late last night when i deer jumped on the road and took a bite out of my new Audi....Ouch!! Was not damaged that badly, so drove home and contacted the OHP for the report. He arrived about 15 minutes later to file the report. He pulled behind the car in the driveway, got out and viewed the damage , then asked if i was driving. I said , No, my girlfriend was, so he requested her DL. I went inside the house to get it and returned. He got back into his cruiser, and i squatted by the car door. He typed the license plate into the computer. Within a minute, there was a loud "tweedle" heard from the computer . He looked at me and asked if i had a CCL and i nodded, yes, and in conversationhe said that was what the twedle meant.
Just a FYI.....

LOL!

So we have the "in plain view in a vehicle" tweedle dumb,
and the "lookie here we got a CCW" tweedle dee.
:D

That's right boys and girls, it all connected to LEADS (Law Enforcement Automated Data System), there's a WARNING that pops up with the "twaddle".

To my understanding, NOT all agencies has or is connected to LEADS, hence the 'plain sight law'.

If YOU are the CHL holder and the vehicle is also registered to you, LAEDS will make the connection. This means that if another family member is driving YOUR vehicle, and THEY get pulled over for speeding or some other minor infraction, they better know the protocol for informing LEO that they are NOT carrying and they DON'T make any sudden movements.

'windows down, hands at 11.00 O'Clock position, yada, yada, yada......'
