Ohio CCW permit holder shoots robber.

This is the part that makes me sick...

About 30 youths gathered Monday at the intersection where Buford died and set up a memorial. His cousin, Tameka Foster, 21, questioned Wells' release.

"They let that man run out freely," Foster said. "My cousin is dead."

Do people actually think that, due to their socio-economic status, this kind of life threatening behavior should be understood and tolerated? She might as well said "He (her cousin) was just doing his job".

I don't understand. :confused:

Has anyone seen articles on this outside of Ohio Newspapers? My lack of TV makes me dependent on links at major news sites to find out what is covered.

The part that ruins my digestion is this;

Toby Hoover, director of the Toledo-based Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence, questioned whether shooting Buford was the only option.

"We have a 15-year-old kid here," Hoover said. "Was he doing something wrong here? It sounds like it. Is the first resort to shoot?"

Ummm... Yes!
When a thug is holding a gun on you and says "Don't move or I'll pop you", the threat is substantial and real. Your best chance of survival is to fight back at your first opportunity with swift, decisive force.

What is overlooked in some of these reports is that there were TWO assailants. But the citizen had enough restraint to not shoot the second one. It's likely that he took off running, which probably saved him. I'd surmise that he may have returned to recover the .38 when Wells went inside to phone police and then disposed of it in a neighbor's mail slot.

Hopefully we see a surge in stories like this and the BG's see that the law abiding citizens of this country are not going to take it lying down, and that they have the backing of the state of their residence.

Toby Hoover would rather the victim get killed by the armed robber so he can crow about the 'need' to reduce gun violence by banning all guns. Lawful defense against an armed robber is a win for our side and works against his political agenda.

Armed robbery isn't a petty crime, it's a serious felony. This punk had already graduated to the big-time. It's tragic that a 15 year-old had such a poor upbringing that he ended up getting himself killed, but are we supposed to give him a pass because of that? Are we supposed to excuse his behavior and let him victimize honest citizens? Since when is 'armed robbery' just another occupation?

Question:
"We have a 15-year-old kid here," Hoover said. "Was he doing something wrong here? It sounds like it. Is the first resort to shoot?"

Answer: Yes, the first and last resort was to shoot. One more second and he would have been the victim...as planned by the robbers. In these cases age is not an issue.

Quick correction lockedcj7: For future reference, Toby Hoover is female not male...although if you saw a picture (as we Ohioans are forced to from time to time) you wouldn't be inclined to take my word for it.
