A little background-- I was blinded in my right eye a few years ago. Being right handed this made shooting long guns rather difficult. I first tried to compensate by buying used stocks for some of my rifles and shotties and cutting out part of the upper cheek so to allow my left eye access to the sights.
This caused two problems, first, the guns looked stupid Second, the neck kink was almost as uncomfortable as shooting left handed. Eventually I gave in and learned to shoot left handed... replacing my bolt guns with left handed models. I am proficient and comfortable with it now but I still have problems with some semi-autos.
Mostly the problems lay with rifles that take high capacity mags Shooting them left handed results in a face full of smoke and a lot of brass hickeys. The problem on my AR was readily solved by the addition of a red dot on top of the carry handle. It is accurate enough for pop cans and ambidextrous enough.
A while back I was lucky enough to handle an M1D- The scope offset that allowed for top feeding made it possible to use a scope right handed and the irons left handed. The BEST of both worlds I am very interested in setting up my Polytech M14S this way.
Is there an offset mount that attaches to the Polytech (which has the mounting hole on the side) ?? Would an actual M1D mount work?
Thanks for any help!
