Off Topic.....Paranoid?

OK, my son had some teeth removed this summer. In the past whenever the dentist pulled a tooth it went home for the tooth fairy to find under the pillow and leave some cash. (Geez in my day it was a quarter). This time it had to be done in the hospital as outpatient. We asked about the teeth and were told they had to go to pathology. The dental surgeon said in his 31 years of pulling teeth he has never given a tooth back.???????? He then explained how pathology had to keep the teeth for insurance reasons along with the fact that OHSA(?) didn’t allow that kind of thing. I talked to one of the nurses/doctors; what ever she was and found out I could get the teeth in two weeks and had to sign a form for them. We got them back and noticed one of them had a hole drilled in it. Do you suppose my sons DNA has been filed without out knowledge or how can I find out. I’m asking because another doctor the pathologist gave us a different story as to why they had to keep the teeth.
PS I no longer believe in the tooth fairy, Santa said he wasn’t real. :D

You are probably over reacting. However, NOTHING surprises me any more.

I'd like to say you are paranoid. I know for a fact that veterinary clinics now have to dispose of all tissues, bloody naps and so on in special 'bio' bags...used to toss in the dumpster 10 years ago. I'd assume it's the same [[or worse] in a hospital. However, the hole does raise some interesting questions.

Don't let all the internet paranoia get to you. Probably some procedure to control for liability or charge you more.

If they wanted your kid's DNA, a simple cheek swab will give enough cells to do it.

Now my dentist is an NRA member otherwise I would fear he was sending my DNA to be used by the Red Chinese when invading TX for the UN.

Seriously, just relax, the RKBA is not served when we go off into LaLa Land.

...whoops....

Recently my son had a wisdom tooth pulled and the tooth had to be sent to the insurance company. To prevent false claims? Who knows. Luckily, he's past the tooth fairy stage. :)

No jeffer, you are not paranoid, But, just becayse you are not paranoid does not mean that they have stopped trying to get you!

Be thankful your dentist doesn't do what one of mine did in Charlottesville, Va. in the 1950's - give you a mercury-coated dime to take home if you were good. John

If they wanted your DNA, there are much easier things to obtain it than a tooth. For example, a piece of hair or a cheek swab (be careful, the barber might be up to something!!!!)
Removed body parts are usually considered biohazard and must be disposed of. Not so many years ago things were different, for example, the dentists didn't wear gloves or masks either, but gloves are mainly for their protection not yours.

Uhhh thanks I needed that. :D

Stealing DNA tissue? Hmmm...I can think of a certain religous holy man who removes skin tissue from an infant. And just how long has that been going on...its a conspiracy I tell you. :D

Johnbt,

..mercury coated dime??

The dimes from that era were Mercury head dimes. Mercury was the Greek (or was it Roman) god/messenger of the gods. In about the early sixties the US dimes were redesigned to portray FDR.

Sheesh, where did you come up with mercury coated dimes? Yet another urban (well, Charlottsville isn't exactly urban) legend?

And I thought I was paranoid!!!

Remember, just because you are not paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get you!

Do you people not watch SouthPark??? These teeth are taken to rich kids houses and left under the pillow. That way the Mob can sap money from the clueless parents!!!!

The question is not whether you are paranoid, but whether it is possible to be paranoid enough.

Paranoid is what they call you when they are *really* out to get you.

You young folks never heard of a mercury coated dime? And I thought you knew it all.
Truth is you could coat a dime with mercury and have the brightest dime you had ever seen. It would really SHINE.

I am an urban legend. The mercury coated dime is not.

You have to be there when it's all over. Otherwise you can't say "I told you so."

Better days to be,

Ed
