O/U Rifle?

About 6 months ago I asked a question about the possibility of getting a O/U rifle that was not either the over adorned European or the clunky Bikal. Wanted something short and light, out of stainless with a composit stock and chambered in something like .35 Rem.

A few of you were kind enough to give some ideas, especially Mr. Watson who was very patient with my ignorance.

Not being the kind who gives up easily I've continued to search the web off and on to see what is out there. Yesterday I stumbled on the Practical Machinest Forum web site and found a thread there that discussed the conversion of a 20 ga S/S into a rifle.

They even had pictures of the work in progress.

So here I am again asking the same basic question hoping someone has stubled on some new information and can send me to the right person.

I'm still thinking that a very nice little rifle can be constructed on, say a Ruger Red Label frame??

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

And yes I do understand this will cost........

At one time Paul Jaeger would convert a Ruger Red Label to double rifle. Your choice of .45-70 or 9.3x74R. Both rimmed cartridges to avoid the complication of rimless extractors on a break-open rifle. So there was at least one competent authority who considered it strong enough.

I don't think there is a Paul Jaeger any more. They were bought out by Dunn's and moved from Pennsylvania to Tennessee some years ago; but the last time I clicked on "guns" at the Dunn's website it took me to the Cabela's Gun Library.

There was also an outfit who advertised conversion of Winchester 101 shotguns to rifle.

There is a book on the subject of converting a double shotgun to a double rifle, too.
