O/U os SxS?

I have noticed that most use O/U's for trap, clays, and skeet. I have never fired either gun but have shouldered them and prefer the feel of a SxS. What is the reason for the popularity of the O/U's?

I used to have a S/S and they will work fine. Personally I prefer the feel of the foreend of a good O/U. Much more wood to grab onto. That and it is easier for me to line up on the bird with something that is less wide. In other words only one barrel I can see when the gun is mounted.

Good question

I definitely have a better kill ratio with an O/U; however, the classic looks of SxS are really attractive, but harder to hit. Clearly mental, most people who use both feel the same and some won't even bother with SxS b/c they can't hit anything. Other than the mental aspects, if anyone has thoughts about how to be a better shot with SxS and comments on barrel length for flatness of pattern at certain distances, I'd be very interested in hearing them. Thx.
