O.K. Guys, Stop Me or Push Me Over the Edge!

I got to thinking... always a bad move on my part. I went and held a Kimber Ultra Carry.

Of course I want one. But, I believe in maintaining your battery of arms in one style of weapon type. Mainly for familiarity in training for high stress encounters.

Now all this means that if I get a Kimber Ultra Carry, I'll have to transition to 1911s...

I like a 1911. Had more than one in the past, but they all seem to get traded off. Now I'm feeling the pull of the 1911.

Help me, help me resist or help me succumb. Let's hear it!

Here, let me push you over the edge... ;)
If $ not too much of a problem, go ahead.
You'll regret it later, when the $ is tight.
I know I have...

Dan,
Thinking is bad, especially when it's about your addiction.
You don't need a new gun.(Yeah, Right. ;))
Think of your family, man! (Oh Yeah, you might just use it to defend them)
Think of the expense!!! (Oh Yeah, you're an addict aren't you!!!)
OK, you can buy a new gun, provided you sell your current most prized pistol to pay for it. This addiction has to stop somewhere. ( Again, Yeah Right!!!)

FWIW, I wouldn't mind owning a nice custom 1911 style pistol. However, I would never completely swap to that platform.

I have looked at both Kimbers and Springfields a few times and almost bought them, but after thinking it over for a few days and shooting my Glocks I realize that I am glad I didn't make that impulse buy.

My opinion is that you would regret making a *complete* transition to that platform. I know for a fact that I would regret it.

Get your Kimber, I have one and they are very nice guns. Mine is the Custom Combat Carry model with the light weight frame. Its been 100 percent reliable and I can make head shots with it at 25 yards, pretty darned accurate gun, I'd say. Its also very pretty and has all of the bells and whistles. Go to www.kimber.com and check them out.

Hello. Your "addiction" is kind of like "social flu"; I call it "galloping gunorehea." There is no cure and you must simply have what you must have. The new 1911 you seek will provide only a temporary "cure." There is no cure. Best to all.

The fact that you are asking means to me that money may be an issue. I have to tell you, I owned a Kimber UC at one time and all the polishing, breaking in, bullet types and weights, and different magazines I tried could not make that gun reliable for me. So unless you want to POTENTIALLY have send it away to a smith and spend a few more bucks, I advise against it. I say potentially, because I know the next poster will say that their UC has been perfectly reliable and will cycle 7up cans, but my experience has not been so. Best to you and do advise what you decide. You could go G36 if you like Glock, they're starting to trickle into the stores now...

Ah - the 1911...
Refreshing isnt it?
To hold an honest to God, REAL pistol?
No Hype... No Controversy... No Gimicks...
Just a real freaking pistol the way John Browning intended.
Felt "Right" didn't it?
Listen to your heart... go for the 1911...
Tranistion.
I have... and I smile all the time... :D
See?
