Ballot Measure 5 continues to generate a landslide of lies with its
proponents claiming that guns are sold to juveniles at gun shows with
"no questions asked."
It has become clear that the supporters of 5 simply cannot make their
case and tell the truth at the same time.
O.F.F. has mailed almost 30,000 "No on 5" bumper stickers with another
30,00 being mailed right now.
O.F.F.'s director Kevin Starrett appeared on KPTV's "Good Day Oregon" on
Portland's Channel 12 this morning and will be on KXL with Lars Larson
on the 24th of October. Senator Ginny Burdick has been invited to the
debate but as of our last conversation with KXL has not agreed to
appear.
Those of you outside the Portland area should contact local media and
ask that they provide a forum for this debate as well.
(Starrett will, as you know, be debating Burdick in Eugene on Oct. 19th.
IF she shows up.)
The Portland "Oregonian" requested and received a commentary from O.F.F.
about Measure 5. Yesterday, we were contacted by Professor John Lott,
the author of "More Guns, Less Crime" who had written a commentary of
his own. He had asked the "Oregonian" to run it.
The "Oregonian" informed Professor Lott that we had already submitted a
commentary. After reading Professor Lott's article we contacted the
Oregonian and asked that they run his article instead.
Those of you who read the "Oregonian" should look for his commentary in
the days ahead.
In the heat of this Ballot Measure fight we should not lose sight of the
legislative battles coming up.
