NYPD is purchasing 15 of these, 2006 Dodge Charger, what a beauty :D :D

Sounds like a good plan. Those cars are quite superior to Crown Vics and certainly to the newer front drive anemic V6 Limpalas (though I still think the best cop car of all time is the LT1 powered B4C Caprice).

That is fantastic news! Now when they are sitting in grid lock traffic they can rev the HEMI and look like bada$$e$. Money well spent.

Weren't the Fords subject to the dreaded rear-end collison incinerates you syndrome?

I believe there was a fix for that problem, but it came after the death of at least one local officer (DFW area). I understand that the motor pool has been retrofitted with a new device to prevent that problem.

110 mph wasn't enough ?they need a 150 mph? I spent a good bit of my life in NYC but can't think of where they are going to need 150 ! I wonder how well it accelerates .Do they still have cop run drag races in Brooklyn ??:D

New York City went broke. Chrysler went broke. We US taxpayers bailed both of them out by supplying funds. Has either entity paid back those funds? Nasville, TN bought some Chrysler police cars. They caught fire from routine patrol duty, bad brakes.

I drove a demo Charger. Didn't accelerate as fast as my 04 Ford CVPI. IMHO didn't handle as well either. It is a step up from the Impala. YMMV Regards 18DAI.

Im guessing your talking about the Crown Vic when saying 110 mph wasnt enough. If they have Crowns that only do 110 they are a pile of junk. Ive been an officer for many years and have been driving Crowns and can say your looking at the least 125-130 mph. No light bar, 140 easy. Also the new Chargers arent what you would expect.

My experience is over 25 years. Fords-go FAST, terrible brakes and poor performance in cooling. I have fried several. Chevrolet/Buick/Pontiac-good for all around patrol, slow to accelerate, cold performance is sub-par and the door frames need welding to stay attached. Transmissions overheat. Dodge/Plymouth-good for patrol, front ends wear out, rear axles come apart easily, the Slant 6 was THE police engine. 440 Magnums were nice but, they overheated. The best cruiser I ever had was a 1973 AMC Matador with a 401. No, I didn't carry a black powder revolver! LOL
