Nyclad vs. Gold Dot in 2" snubbie

I've got the opportunity to pick up a few 50 round boxes of .38 Spl Nyclad 125 gr. +P HP at a fairly good price ($12 a box). Currently, I'm carrying Gold Dot 125 gr. +P GDHP in both my S&W 642 and my S&W 342PD J Frame snubs. Not sure if I should start carrying the Nyclads, or continue carrying the GD's. Is one better than the other? Which round would you carry in your snub if given only these two choices?

So.... whadda you think?

Thanks!

The South Carolina Highway Patrol, who presumably could carry anything they want, use Gold Dot Plus P's in their 642's.

I happen to like the Georgia Arms 125 grain Gold Dot loading for my 342. It shoots to point of aim for me, so that is what I carry in my gun.

For what it's worth........

Designed for the snubbie and its lower velocities is the new Speer 135 grain +P 38 special load. Go to Speer's web page for the info.

I have used both Gold Dot and Federal Nyclad. Nyclad is a bit more accurate in my Model 36 S&W. However I would not be reluctant to use Gold Dot.

Looks like the thumbs-up goes to the Gold Dots! I'm gonna stick with the GD 125 +P until I can find some of the 135 grainers. Anyone know of an online source for the 135 gr GDHP's? Can't find any locally. Actually, I can't even find the 125 grainers.

Many thanks for all your opinions!

Actually, from a 2" barrel, I'd be willing to bet that the Nyclad and the 125 Gold Dots will perform basically identically and I wouldn't sweat the different. The Nyclads have an almost cult following, at least on the internet but I woulnd't expect any of them to expand with any sort of consistancy.

If limited to the 125 Gr Gold Dots or Nyclads, I'd get which ever was cheaper... assuming they both shot to close to my point of aim.

Let's don't forget that one of Sarge's guns is a 342. In that gun, the Gold Dot loaded by a competent manufacturer is very pull-resistant. The Nyclad does not qualify as "jacketed," and it may be subject to pull in an Airlite. I can state with absolute certainty that the Georgia Arms 125 grain Gold Dot loading will not pull in my 342.
