NV Drops MI and NM Adds 10 Other States

Nevada has put out a new list of states it will honor. They just changed their statute on how they would honor other states. First they dropped Michigan and New Mexico. No big public announcement just updated their listing. They now list these states with the all cap states additions to their original list. They did honor 14 now it is 22.

Alaska, ARIZONA, Arkansas, DELAWARE, Idaho (both types of permits), Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, LOUISIANA, MINNESOTA, MONTANA, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota (both types of permits), Ohio, OKLAHOMA, RHODE ISLAND, South Carolina, Tennessee, WEST VIRGINIA, WISCONSIN AND WYOMING.

They also did honor just the North Dakota Class 1 and the Idaho Enhanced. They now honor all the permit/licenses these two starts issue. You can view the listing at the below link. I think we can expect to see more and more states going this direction. It's unfortunate, but it's logical from the states' perspective, and its predictable.

This is why I am in favor of a federal law calling for universal recognition of other states' permits. I am aware of the counter-arguments, but I'm still of the opinion that it would do more good than harm.

Right now I hold permits/licenses from four states. At one time, that allowed me to carry in (IIRC) 34 states. That number is shrinking ... I'll have to spend some time on handgunlaw.us to see the current count, but I expect it will be under 30, and maybe under 25.
 
Nevada law doesn't specify that it has to be a permit from your state of residence. Here is the law that just went into effect.

NRS 202.3688

1. Except as otherwise provided in subsection 2, a person who possesses a permit to carry a concealed firearm that was issued by a state included in the list prepared pursuant to NRS 202.3689 may carry a concealed firearm in this State in accordance with the requirements set forth in NRS 202.3653 to 202.369, nclusive.

2. A person who possesses a permit to carry a concealed firearm that was issued by a state included in the list prepared pursuant to NRS 202.3689 may not carry a concealed firearm in this
State if the person:

(a) Becomes a resident of this State; and

(b) Has not been issued a permit from the sheriff of the county in which he or she resides within 60 days after becoming a resident of this State.
 
Texas is disqualified by most states that honor other states permits because Texas will grant a license to veterans under 21

There use to be two states that would not honor Texas because of issuing to those under 21. Washington and Nevada. Nevada has changed their law and dropped that requirement. NV will not honor TX because NV can't confirm 24/7 if a TX permit/license is valid or not. Here are the requirements for Nevada to honor a state now.

1. On or before July 1 of each year, the Department shall:
(a) Determine whether each state requires a person to complete any training, class or program before the issuance of a permit to carry a concealed firearm in that state .
(b) Determine whether each state has an electronic database which identifies each individual who possesses a valid permit to carry a concealed firearm issued by that state and which a law enforcement officer in this State may access at all times through a national law enforcement telecommunications system.

Today Washington is the only state that will not honor TX because of issuing to those under 21. There law states

RCW 9.41.073 Concealed Pistol License — Reciprocity.
(1)(a) A person licensed to carry a pistol in a state the laws of which recognize and give effect in that state to a concealed pistol license issued under the laws of the state of Washington is authorized to carry a concealed pistol in this state if:
(i) The licensing state does not issue concealed pistol licenses to persons under twenty-one years of age; and
(ii) The licensing state requires mandatory fingerprint-based background checks of criminal and mental health history for all persons who apply for a concealed pistol license.

Other than Nevada and Washington there are only two other states that don't honor Texas that could. Maine and New Hampshire. Maine law will change in the next few months and their new law will state they will honor any state that honors them. It will be up to Texas then if they wish to honor Maine or not. Plus Maine's bill is still in play and Maine could go Permitless Carry this year.

New Hampshire Law states
Title XII 159:6-d Full Faith and Credit for Licenses From Other States; Reciprocity. –

Notwithstanding the provisions of RSA 159:6, no nonresident holding a current and valid license to carry a loaded pistol or revolver in the state in which he resides or who is a peace officer in the state in which he resides, shall be required to obtain a license to carry a loaded pistol or revolver within this state if: I. Such nonresident carries upon his person the license held from the state in which he resides; and II. The state in which such person is a resident provides a reciprocal privilege for residents of this
state. Source. 1993, 130:1, eff. Jan. 1, 1994.

I don't know what the hold up is on TX and NH. That could be TX and not NH that is stopping them from honoring each other. TX has some requirements before they will honor another state.

And I would suggest that you take remedial English, because clearly you don't understand what you yourself posted. You said that Texas is disqualified by most states that honor other states permits, which can only be read to mean that most other states dishonor Texas permits. Since over 30 states honor Texas permits, your statement is simply ridiculous on its face.
 
But the states I knew of that did not honor Texas CHL did so because of the reason I had stated. New Mexico attempted to do the same thing, but failed after the casinos set empty for a week.

English is not my first language, I've worked real hard to learn it... I guess I'll try harder in the future. Thank you for the tip.
