Number 6?

I saw a bolt-action rifle, a "number 6", British (Lee-Enfield?) chambered for 7.62 Nato. Does anyone have any experience with one of these? I haven't found any reference to any "number" bigger than 5 (the jungle carbine).

The part I liked was the price, and the fact that it wasn't chambered for .303. (Now let me get my asbestos suit):-)

Regards to all.

Never mind. Forget it. I think I got the wrong number. It might have been a number 7 or 8. Made around 1964.

Darn British things have confused me ever since I had to find Whitworth wrenches to bang my knuckles against a Lucas ignition system.

I'll look at the rifle again and memorize the number somehow.

Regards.
