Hi
I received this NRA email alert.
NRA Sues Mayor Ray Nagin:cool:

Fairfax, VA-The National Rifle Association (NRA ) has filed a motion for contempt against the City of New Orleans, the mayor and the acting chief of police for failure to comply with a temporary restraining order, handed down September 12, 2005, ordering an end to all illegal gun confiscations.

"With looters, rapists and other thugs running rampant in New Orleans, Ray Nagin issued an order to disarm all law-abiding citizens," declared Wayne LaPierre, NRA executive vice president. "With no law enforcement and 911 available, he left the victims vulnerable by stripping away their only means of defending themselves and their loved ones. Now Ray Nagin thinks he's above the law, and that's just wrong."

Attorneys for NRA have exhausted all efforts to cooperate with the defendants, Mayor Nagin and Chief Riley, who repeatedly ignored the court's permanent restraining order against their illegal gun confiscations.

"Ray Nagin is a colossal disappointment," said Chris W. Cox, NRA chief lobbyist. "During a federally declared emergency, he abused his power and abandoned the very people he was sworn to protect. He took away the victims' freedom and their basic means of self-defense during an ill-fated and perilous time."

The motion also includes an order that all seized firearms must be returned to their rightful owners.

Leave them helpless

Nagin and Blanco came out of Air force one with a totally different demeanor that day. After that the 2nd amendment saying that the right to bear arms was infringed. To ignore a permanent restraining order is bad news. That alone is a felony. Why didn't the judge issue a warrant? The GOA should of teamed up with the NRA. Wonder if the guns were given back? Seems they concentrated on that instead of helping the people, huh? I'll have to check the lists of executive orders on that one.

I also saw footage of US troops and private blackwater security forces disarming people.

Are they going to be held accountable?

Nagin is probably going to take the fall for the whole thing and it was the feds that played the biggest part in it.

I have MSNBC footage of national guard confiscating guns. That's treason any way you cut it.

This wouldn't be the first time Nagin has done something stupid.

If he is being cited for contempt I would guess he hasn't complied with the Court Order.

If the confiscations are still going on, how can this be justified?

As for the Nat'l. Guard confiscating weapons, I'll bet they haven't since the Court Order came down.

Initially the Red Cross and other support were not entering the city because of an order by who?? Ray Nagin

Poor Ray Nagin I'm sure he would have mobilized the buses he was in charge of if Carl Rove hadn't disabled them. Maybe he should of thought about the "all of the city's residents coming over to the Super Bowl, bring your own food and water, just get me out of here" plan.

There is plenty of blame to go around starting with the imbeciles who refused to leave when told to, clear up to the Administrations response.

Personally I think those closest to the problem bear more blame than those in Washington.

If this were tried as a multi-defendant civil case where fault is dished out by percentages, IMO there would be little left by the time it came to Washington.

+10000 Pipo

It sure seems easier for them to blame the government in Washington than to take responsibility for their own incompetance. How about Nagin, Blanco and the morons who refused to leave take a bite of the same sh@# sandwich they want Bush to eat.

Nagin is a total blowhard. I am still furious about the chocolate city remark, I know every white person thought this and it has probobly been threaded but what if a natural disaster knocked out a minority (take your pick) part of a city and the mayor just said "We will rebuild the (insert area) district into upscale living.".............. doesn't sound like a big deal does it? now just imagine the minority on TV "theyre trying to run us out of town the "man" is allways trying to keep us down, we cant afford, blah, whine, give me, whine, not fair, whine, more free, whine, allways taking, whine, "Im going to get a job to buy a house there" (j/k makin sure your still paying attention). Meanwhile the government bought them trailers to live in but they rejected them because they shouldnt HAVE to live in a trailer.......... WHAT?!?!? YOU ARE LIVING IN A HOTEL ROOM! A GLORIFIED TRAILER! NOT THE RITZ NOT THE OMNI BUT A LA QUINTA AND RED ROOF INN, GET OVER IT A TRAILER IS A STEP UP and come on folks I am so fed up with this katrina crap, dont feel bad for them anymore. When the Southern California fire's hit did you hear about all of the residents there living in hotel rooms and complaing after 6 months about finally getting kicked out? or spending theyre fema credit cards on strippers and Louis Vatton purses?
I may be ranting here but that is because I am fed up with New Orleans, screw them. Let the Saints goto San Antonio every one from New Orleans lives in Texas now anyways so lets roll the red carpet out right to them.... again. I know this all sounds harsh but thruth hurts. And as for the New Orleans situation, I live in the Dallas Fort Worth area so guess who get's to deal with the real New Orleans? :barf:

Democrats ordering the confiscation of legally-owned firearms from civilians? Big surprise there.

Go NRA!
