NRA RSO Certificate

I went down today for my NRA Range Safety Officer certificate.
This is a very good all day class, with extensive materials. And an excellent instructor who knows his stuff.
He brought an extensive collection of every type, size, make, and model of firearm known to mankind. For us to clear.
There were some old people like me, but also some young, some leo, and a young lady (32) that we shoot with regularly.
One thing that was emphsized was the importance of the safety and all aspects associated to keep the ranges open.
There have been about 15 that have been closed down in one way or another in the last 10 or 20 years in this area, and there are more shooters than ever.
But the shooting sports and gun ownership, and self defense is in jeopardy without these ranges.
We need a place to shoot.
And they have to be approved and economically viable to be there.

Good on you.
We can't ever have enough range officers.
Due to some danged fools ruining things for everyone at a nearby club, now each and every range is required to have a bonified range officer or nobody shoots.
It was either that, or like you say, the place could have bit the dust
