NRA reloading course

Would you guys recommend that a new reloader attend a NRA Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading course? Or in your opinion would learning on ones own with the manuals and internet, and maybe a mentor suffice? Any thoughts?

Certainly couldn't hurt.

The problem with Mentors and Videos is they may have bad habits and pass them on to you.

Lots of books out there with good information as well, that is how I learned.

I think it would help, especially, if you don't really have the mind for it.

A person with some basic design of experiment skills who reads some internet how to a new manual or two would likely know as much. That is work and class is easy though, right?

I'm home grow and would teach you whatever I know by PM or by post. There are many like me, but also a few trolls and idiots...you just have to be able to sort us out.

I typically tell a person my way, but know a few other methods I can explain, if you want to go that way.

Take the course! I did. I had no background in reloading and no confidence to pick it up on my own. I stsrted with good habits and gained a mentor to help for future questions. Best $80 investment i ever made.

I didn’t make myself clear in my OP. I was not thinking of taking the course but becoming an instructor and offering the course to others.

Shootist.......One course and you think that you would be qualified to teach reloading....not in my world....... you would still only be a rank beginner.

You did not state that you had been reloading for 35 years I read just fine...maybe you should learn how to write.

For your information I have been reloading for 35 years. Where did I say I would take only one course and then be qualified to teach. In my world you learn to read before posting such a stupid statement.

The opening post states:

Would you guys recommend that a new reloader attend a NRA Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading course?

In my opinion is a whole world away from the second post:

I was not thinking of taking the course but becoming an instructor and offering the course to others.

How about we introduce some clear comunication, a quality of a great instructor, by maybe rewriting the opening post something like this:

"Hey guys, I have reloading for over 35 years and have a real love for the hobby. I have been thinking about passing on my love and knowledge of reloading to others in a more formal setting; such as becoming an instructor of the NRA Basic Reloading course. I have reloaded shotgun, pistol and rifle and participated in XYZ...

Do you think there would be any folks interested in taking this type of course? What are your experiences? Would you recommend this course to other shooters?"

Now it's your turn, because I certainly don't know what is in your mind :)
