NRA Personal Protection in the Home?

Has anyone ever taken this (or a similar) class? They offer it at my local NRA place and I am thinking of signing up - would love others to weigh in:

NRA PERSONAL PROTECTION IN THE HOME

- $120/person

- 8 hours, (Classroom: 5 hours; Range: 3 hours)

- To develop in the students the basic knowledge, skills and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family,
and to provide information the law abiding citizens right to self defense.

- Introduction to defensive shooting, basic defensive handgun skills, firearms and the law, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent
confrontation, selecting a handgun for self defense.

- basic skill and firearm safety

I have my first gun and, although I already have a pretty basic understanding/ability, I would like to get help with defensive/strategy planning. Thoughts?

I teach the NRA Protection in the Home course. I like it, it gives a good basic intro to both guns and shooting, as well as giving a nice intro to general safety issues. I think you'll like it.

I'm biased, I used to instruct it too. I recommend it highly as a good way to get started on practical home defense planning.

I am NOT an instructor, but I took the class and thought it was really good.

$120 seems a bit expensive though...

Took it a couple months ago - good class to take. We got a bit more class time and a bit more range (1.5 days total), but was probably pretty much the same thing.
