Well, if you're a member of GOA as well, you know that they're plenty powerful enough to be heard on Capitol Hill. They just don't get as much media attention.
There's nothing wrong with joining any of those organizations, though IMHO the NRA is wasting too much effort and money on lapel pins, gimme caps, and other assorted nonessentials. They've not traditionally been real toothy when it comes to fighting for our rights--hence, GCA 1968. They were around then. So were a lot of hunters and shooters. What happened then?
Meanwhile, we're being sold out incrementally. Worst of all, many hunters and shooters I have known for years are willing to accept a "little" gun control (whatever the hell that's supposed to mean!). All the NRA can do for us is to help slow that process down a little. If we don't do anything more than join an organization, we're screwed.
The problem is with shooters and hunters who write a check every year and expect that to be enough.
