Quick question:

Are there any rules that prohibit the shooter from sitting down between each offhand slow-fire shot ?

Thanks

As long as the rifle is handled safely, no, there is no ruled prohibiting you from setting between shots in offhand.

How ever your scores are going to suffer big time. Might as well be doing deep knee bends between shots, you'll get the same results.

How about just resting the butt of the rifle on the shooting school (again safely).

A proper well balanced standing position would be less tiring then setting and getting up again after the targets come out of the pits again.

If you're standing position is that tiring, you're doing something wrong.

sitting

I saw that practice some years ago when I was shooting and air pistol match. The young man at the point next to mine would take a shot, put the gun down, sit down for half a minute or more, get up, regrasp the gun, etc.
I thought then "what a lot of work."
His coach must have been from the old school.
