I have a Ruger Hawkeye MK II in stainless. It's been a great rifle, but I've never been a huge fan of the action when cycling this or other stainless Ruger guns. When working the bolt hard (as is my practice with any rifle) I tend to feel a bit of stickiness if any lateral pressure is applied on the closing stroke. I've tried different lubes and can't find any binding or galling issues.
Anyone have any experience with coating the bolt body with NP3 or NP3 plus as a method of smoothing the throw? I called Robar, and they replied that it should smooth it up some and wear shouldn't be an issue, but I'd like to hear some other opinions from those that have used similar coatings.
