Now since I'm an owner one last question on FAL's

Its hard to believe but my STG58 is a little short for me. Yeah I can get use to it but I'd like to know what my options are on Stock Extensions. Even if I have to do some custom work. I placed a Post over at FnFal.com and didn't really get pointed in any direction, besides, that site has been down for about a week now. I can't believe there is everything you can possible imagine for an FAL out there except stock extensions??
I talked to DSArms and they said "Nobody Asks for Stock Extensions, everyone wants shorter stocks." I've never heard of anyone saying an FAL is too "Short" BUT IT IS FOR ME! I'm 6'3" by the way!

What style of buttstock do you have on it now? Is it the typical black synthetic with rubber buttpad?

If it has a metal buttplate, as mine does, you could probably add the rubber buttpad and gain an inch.

Yeah, otherwise you're pretty much on your own.

SodaPop, it's nice to hear from someone having the same problem that I had. My head comes so far forward while shooting my FAL prone that I go home with a black eye.

I finally made an extension for the stock that goes between the stock and the buttpad out of pine. I added 2-1/4" to the length. If you make the extension keep in mind that it will need to be made at the same angle that the screw goes into the stock and that you'll need to carve grooves in each end so that it fits correctly. You'll also need a longer screw which was difficult to find at the length I was looking for. It's standard, but it's a fine thread. My Dad finally located one at Sears Hardware.

You can paint it black to match. I'm thinking of eventually making an entire custom buttstock.

Well I guess I'm screwed "Destructo6", I have the Synthetic stock. I didn't see anything on the Gunthings.com website to extend the synthetic stocks. I can get use to firing the gun the way it is but for bench shooting I'm worried about getting banged in the bean. I'm going to look into some custom shops and find out what it costs. It might be better to get a one piece stock instead of adding on too much.

Longer FAL stock: try the R1 style

You might want to consider going to one of the "humpback" styled stocks used on the South African R1 variant. You should have NO problem finding one of these if you post a "want to buy" message over on http://www.fnfal.com

The "FAL Files" site is a great board, someone will help you out.

I have an STG-58 and the stock length with pad is just a little over 10 inches. On my R1 the length is 11.25.

I'm also 6'3", but BOTH work fine for me.
