Sorry if this isn't the appropriate forum for this, but I think things like this need to be the number one reason we continue to fight for RKBA.

Body of woman found near north Columbus path
A passer-by discovered the body of a young woman lying in a pool of blood in the parking lot of ARC Industries just north of the Ohio State University campus area, just off a biking and jogging path. Medics arrived and pronounced her dead at the scene Thursday afternoon. Apparently her throat had been slashed. Columbus police homicide detectives are investigating.

This happened just a shade over 1/4 a mile from my backyard, on a bike trail which I run/bike regularly. It's built over an old railroad track and is fairly secluded. The area in question is near a section of land owned by the University for wetlands research and would be the perfect place to commit such a crime without worrying about witnesses.
This story is newly developing as of last night, and they still don't know her name, yet I wouldn't be surprised if she was an OSU student.
Now, before I go on a tirade, I know that even if she was armed, knew ju-jitsu, had mace, etc that she could very well be in the same situation, but maybe not. Obviously, a young woman who -- is deluded into thinking that even if the area around campus is unsafe a secluded bike path is OK because it's "pretty" -- has not been properly taught awareness/self-defense, etc.
We need to get the point out that self defense and owning/using weapons is NOT just for the bad guys, and it doesn't make you a bad person. ESPECIALLY women, who are sadly marked as "easy targets" by subhuman predators. Bug the living crap out of your wife, sister, daughter, girlfriend until it sinks in. Use this story as an example if you need to, because it CAN happen to anyone. Don't let people think that some silly feel-good law can be passed to make it all better. People need to get pissed off and ready to fight.
"Demons who enter your circle must be pushed out."
BTW, Ohio has NO CCW.
Take someone out shooting TODAY. Teach someone how to fight TODAY. Tomorrow might be too late.
Fuming I remain,
