Novice Question About Bench Rest

I have a new Rem 700 MILSPEC 5R .308. My first trip to the range to adjust the scope gave me very promising results. I have a sandbag rear rest and adjustable tripod front rest (Hoppes). Am I supposed to put that under the barrel or the plastic stock? Rem says the stock is bedded in aluminum but I haven't tried to research what that means yet.

^, what he said. Also try and watch to make sure the weight of the rifle is not bringing the stock into contact with the barrel. If it is move the front rest closer to the action.

An aluminum bed block is exactly what it says, and block of aluminum milled out so your rifles action fits into it. Most people like them and they get good reviews from what I've seen. Sadly the one stock I have with a full length aluminum bed block shoots poorly so I'm getting ready to skim bed it.
