The thread on Uberti Safeties brings to mind another Single Action safety that was discussed on another forum.
The gun in question is an Uberti made .22 r.f. Single Action made for Colt, and so marked. The hammer has a pivoted spur so that pressure on the cocked hammer spur extends a safety bar from the inner face of the hammer, just below the firing pin. This bar abuts the frame when the hammer is lowered and impinges between hammer and frame, being held there by tension of the mainspring. When the hammer is cocked for firing, this bar is retracted without pressure on the hinged spur.
Effective, but ugly as a mud fence.
