Does the VO break voting ties.....

In America, 1 VOTE DOES MATTER. Be the ONE!
by Chris W. Stark - Director

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Year is:

1800 1 vote gives Thomas Jefferson the presidency over Aaron Burr
1839 1 vote wins the Massachusetts governorship for Marcus Morton
1868 1 vote saves Andrew Johnson's presidency
1941 1 vote strengthens selective service before World War II
1960 1 vote per precinct gives JFK the presidency
1993 1 vote by Al Gore approves the largest tax increase in history
2000 1 vote, your vote, can make the difference November 7th

In America, 1 VOTE DOES MATTER. Be the ONE. THERE IS MUCH AT STAKE, INCLUDING SUPREME COURT NOMINATIONS, IN WHICH THE NEXT PRESIDENT WILL HAVE A STRONG HAND IN PICKING.

THERE ARE ONLY TWO KNOWN CANDIDATES (THANKS TO THE MEDIA). GORE AND BUSH. ONLY THEY HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN THIS ELECTION, DUE TO THE MEDIA BIAS THAT HAS SWEPT THIS POLITICAL PROCESS. SO, IT COMES DOWN TO BUSH, OR A 3rd TERM DEFACTO FOR CLINTON, IF GORE GETS IT.

I must admit, the first time I read the comments from Neal Knox's alert below, found at http://www.nealknox.com/alerts/msg00310.html I was a bit skeptical. Here is Neal's quote. Read it, and then follow my comments after this quote:

July 25 Neal Knox Report -- We gunowners could not have done better than Dick Cheney as George W. Bush's vice presidential pick.

Of all the candidates who were said to be on the "short
list," Cheney is the most pro-gunrights -- and some,
like Tom Ridge and George Pataki, would have damaged
Bush among gunowners.

Any Congressman from Wyoming, which Cheney was when I
first knew him, must necessarily be pro-gun or he won't
be the Wyoming Congressman. But during an extensive
informal talk with then-Rep. Cheney, I remember being
impressed by both his knowledge and understanding of
the issue.

Based on that discussion of long ago, and two
conversations with Bush over the past five years, I'm
confident that he will do much to strengthen Bush's
position on the right to keep and bear arms.

More importantly, Cheney will influence how Bush governs
concerning our gun rights -- if we can get them in, and
keep Al Gore out.

Some comment from Neal! I was beside myself, and originally figured I would just wait awhile and collect more facts before accepting what Neal was reporting. It was too good to believe.

Then, I REALLY received a bombshell of an e-mail from a prominent pro-gun activist that I trust. This trusted activist received an "intercepted" communication from Handgun Control Inc. (HCI), that shows quite vividly how "deeply concerned" HCI really is over the pick of Dick Cheney as George W. Bush's vice president. Here is the quote from HCI. After reading it, follow my comments below this quote:

Dick Cheney was elected to the US House of
Representatives from Wyoming.

In 1988, he left to become President Bush's Secretary of
Defense. During his time in the House, he had a few gun
votes. His record is not only pro-gun, it is extremely
pro-gun. He was one of only 4 members to vote against
plastic guns, and only one of 21 members to vote against
the ban on cop-killer bullets. Here is a quick look at
his record:

On December 17, 1985, the House voted to ban cop killer
bullets, "The Law Officers Protection Act." It passed
400-21. Cheney was one of the 21 to oppose the
legislation.

On May 10, 1988, the House voted to ban plastic guns:
"The Terrorist Firearms Detection Act." It passed 413-4.
Cheney was one of the four votes against this measure.

On September 15, 1988, the House voted on an amendment
by Rep. McCollum to strip the national seven-day waiting
period for handgun purchases from the Ominbus Drug
Initiative Act of 1988 (HR 5210). Cheney voted for the
amendment. This was the first vote on the Brady Bill.

Since receiving this e-mail, I have verified the information above. The dates of the votes, the names of the bills etc., are all accurate (1986 Hardcore Report from Neal Knox, and several other verified sources). And may I say with much assurance, the vote count is accurate, as well as the fact that Dick Cheney is SOLIDLY PRO-GUN, EVEN AS HCI HAS NERVOUSLY DISCOVERED! HCI CLEARLY DOES NOT LIKE GEORGE BUSH'S VP PICK! CAN YOU NOW SEE WHY?

Folks, this can ONLY mean one thing. Bush has come to the realization of the importance of a pro-gun, pro 2nd amendment staff if he is going to win this election. And may I remind you, the VP slot that Dick Cheney is in, means he is a "heart beat" away from the Presidency of the United States. Through this VP pick, Bush has said that Dick Cheney thinks and believes in a way that he (Bush) is comfortable with. Bush also knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that he will once again, be heavily attacked by the liberal media, and by his opponent, Al Gore, for this VP pick, just on the gun issue ALONE! But apparently, Bush has decided to let all of HELL break lose, but Dick Cheney is his pick for VP!

Bear in mind that it was Cheney who assisted Governor Bush in finding a VP, virtually all of whom had serious gun problems. The fact that Bush didn't pick them, and picked a man who pointed out those anti-gun flaws in the other candidates , is indeed a factor. As a good friend noted, ....he (Bush) picked the rose right directly under his nose."

This was a pick that shows that Bush is learning a hard lesson, that you DO NOT upset gun owning voters! Bob Dole can tell you a bit about the wrath of voting gun owners that stayed at home in 1996, due to Dole's anti-gun compromises in the Senate!

Bush may not be completely perfect in the gun issue, as far as gun owners are concerned. However, this VP appointment certainly puts a feather in his cap. Bush as Texas Governor signed SB 60, the Texas "shall issue" Concealed Handgun License bill in 1995. In 1997, Bush signed HB 2909, the Texas Handgun License reform bill, in which one of many positive changes was to allow licensed CHL Texans to carry a
concealed handgun in churches. In 1999, Texas Governor George W. Bush signed SB 717, which prohibits frivolous lawsuits against Texas gun manufacturers.

Who knows? Perhaps with the help of Dick Cheney, Bush will abandon the notion of supporting further restrictions, such as "closing the loophole" at gunshows (NICS), or mandatory trigger lock legislation? Time will tell. But at least now, Bush has someone within his inner circle that will "tell it like it is" when it comes to gun rights.

And frankly, you can't get more influential than the Vice President. Just one heart beat away from the Presidency.

With Respect,

Cheney is the only reason to hope for a Bush victory. If elected, I hope he maintains his views. Barbara Cubin easily won re-election to Congress as Wyoming's representative. She is strongly pro-gun, and in fact serves on an NRA board. She and Mr. Hostettler both deserve our support.

Hoka-hey

I'm more pro-Cheney than pro-Bush.
I despise Gore, and I'm disappointed that Lieberman has abandoned so many of his earlier views simply to run with Gore.

Oh, remember *Senator* Gore used to be pro-gun.
