    1. Copying and pasting entire articles from another site to TFL is strictly prohibited. The same applies to articles from print or other media, and to posting photographs taken of copyrighted pages or other media.

    2. Copyright law provides for “fair use” of portions of a copyrighted work. You can copy no more than a SINGLE paragraph from the article to your post (3 or 4 sentences at most).

    3. You must provide a link to the article along with the name of website. For example: ww.xxx.yyy/zzz (The Lower Thumbsuck Daily News).

    4. You must provide, in your own words, a brief summary of the article AND your reasons for believing it will be of interest to TFL members. Failure to do so may result in the thread being closed or your post being deleted as a “cut and paste drive by.”

    5. Photographs and other images are also copyrighted. "Hotlinking" of images (so that it appears in your message) from other sites is also prohibited unless you own rights to the image. If you wish to share an image, provide a clickable link to it.

Posts that do not follow these new guidelines will be altered or deleted by staff. Members who continue to violate this policy may lose their posting privileges at TFL.

'Nother small V3 issue perhaps?

Or is it the settings? Usually I'd expect the ''new posts'' search results to give a fairly good long list before it auto-refreshes. Right now, some threads from earlier (today) have already ''disappeared'' ... and only 14 show up. Is this a V3 feature or is the rate of refresh optional for admin?

On THR for instance... it is not uncommon to find several pages of new posts listed, before at some point it refreshes and updates.#

Be nice to have the list ''last longer'' .... if ya know what I mean. :)

Chris,

I think that what you're seeing is an accurate representation of the day's newest posts since your last login. THR has a greater daily volume of posts than we do, so naturally their list would be longer.

Does the list not show all new threads since your last login?

Is it actually changing while you're viewing it? (in the same session)

Thx for reply Dave ....... well, what got my attention was . yesterday IIRC ... there were only 14 new posts showing but .... a thread I'd started earlier in the day had already ''dropped off' the list ... an event that would not normally seem to happen so early. Guess that's why I wondered.

I know traffic is still well below that of THR but had expected to see pretty much the whole day's posts still showing thru that search .. instead just - in this case - the last 14. Can't be sure what it showed earlier on but I suspect it did change during the day.

The log-in aspect is not relevant for most part ..... I work on this danged machine and am logged in all the time to TFL, THR etc .. so they sit there all day (and all night often!).

No biggie - just curious, cos I have always found it useful to sometimes be able to trawl back thru current stuff and see what I might have missed.

Chris-
I have not had that problem with New Posts. Either from the "New Posts" tab or from drop down menu under Quick links. Yes I have to "click" to another page to see more new postings.

Now on "who is online" , and I have my settings set on "all", I did notice on day one, "guests" were ahead of members names, or mixed in with members names. Auto fresh would kick in and still scrambled at times.

I have not experienced since. I figure a "gremlin" just checking things out.

Just an update ... been logged on all day .... and this morning ''new posts'' was let's say ........ 20 or so. I was out this afternoon and just now went to look and refresh the search page for new posts .... only SEVEN!! Some of today's earlier ones have slipped off!

So .. it seems to be auto refreshing during the day even tho I am still logged on ...... and that doesn't happen so obviously on old version (THR).

Just mentioning ... FWIW :)

The board is set so that, after 20 minutes of inactivity, posts are marked as read. The same time interval controls when you're pulled off the Who's Online listing.

Derek or tyme may correct me, but I'm 90% certain it was the same in vB2.X. You just don't notice it on the larger boards due to the volume.

OK Rich - thx .. guess it's partly a matter of scale (traffic) as you suggest ... not a huge biggie as I said, just that it is useful to dig back in the day sometimes to stay in touch.

Thx again
