I just got back from the local gun shop and they had a S&W Mod 65-2 there for $249.00. It has a pinned barrel and recessed chambers, firing pin on the hammer and a semi-sloppy cylinder.

SN AD804xx
I think the AD is part of the serial number.
The model was stamped on the frame and the serial number was on the crane. The digits were stamped in a smaller font size than the AD.

Is this a good price?

When was the manufacturing date

Ala Dan: the fit and finish on the outside were decent no big scratches, but the cylinder had some play both rotational and end to end. This was not a lot but could cause some problem later. I did not look at the barrel or the forcing cone for wear or erosion as I was trying to figure out how to sneak my new NEF 243 superlite handi rifle in to the house.

Tamara the Sn# was a guess from poor lighting and missing bifocals and not writing it down, you could be right if that fits the model designation.

C. R. Sam see reply to Dan and guess if I have seen Jim's thread

Hey Fess,

Sounds good to me too.:) And like Jeff pointed out, "if it's a
3" model 65 jump on it", as they seem to be drying up. Plus
it would make for a handy CCW piece, with plenty of fire
power with the potent .357 magnum cartridge's.

Best Wishes,
