Not to beat a dead horse but serial# on Browning .22 autoloader

Hello. I am new to the forum and was linked here by Google. I have a question about a serial number on an old Browning .22 autoloading takedown rifle. Let me start by saying I have looked at Brownings website and I was unable to determine the date of Mfr. Serial number is T48021. # is located on the front of the receiver when the barrel is taken off it is visible. However where the feed tube is located on the stock, there is a round piece of steel (which the tube locks into) and on the top half it reads T49 and on the bottom half 539. From what browning has to say the "T" designates that it is a long Rifle. However there records indicate that it should have a single or double digit before the "T" which would designate the year. Is one to assume that numbers do not match but it is either a '48 or '49?
