Note: this is an exact replication of a National Public Radio (NPR) interview between a female broadcaster and US General Rienwald who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting a military installation.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: "So, General, what things are you going to teach these boys when they visit your base?"

GENERAL RIENWALD: "we're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting."

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: "Shooting! that's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?"

GENERAL RIENWALD: "I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the range."

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: "Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?"

GENERAL RIENWALD: "Don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle disipline before they ever touch a firearm."

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: "But you're equiping them to become violent killers."

GENERAL RIENWALD: "Well, you're equiped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?'

The radio went silent and the interview was ended.

Quoted exactly as I found it.

KK, I saw this before somewhere in cyberspace, not sure where. Yeah its pretty good.

Once I saw boy scout I thought here we go again. At least it wasnt Jack99 posting this time. ;)
Boy, do these threads get things going.
Thats all I will say for now. I will lie in wait for any females to post here then jump from the limb in a suprise attack. :D

I remember reading this in a magazine a couple of years ago exactly the way that it is written. Of course, the fact that I saw it in print doesn't make the story true.

I have heard that there is no General Rienwald. Smart come-back, though.

Dang, I gotta get me some better camoflage.
But hey your a mountain girl you can spot things like ambush, the other girls are easy pickins :)

While it is funny as hell, this is a COMPLETE AND TOTAL URBAN LEGEND.

I have seen half a dozen separate variations on this story.

Some involve a camp counselor.

One involved the principal of a rural high school that was starting up a riflery club.

Another variation on the Boy Scout theme was a generic interview at a scout camp with no General.

Now this one with a General.

Urban Legend.

Chances are he knows how to use it.

Oh comon' Mike... man..

You're probably the guy that tells everyone the endings of all the great movies before they get to see them.. aren't you? :D Urban legend or not -- we can dream can't we?

I've seen it before as well. Urban legend or not, it still may come in handy at the right moment ... the concept is right on the money.

It certainly is Jeff.

Doesn't offend me one bit. It's not my usual
hot buttons of racism (or other group hatreds), UN looney invasion stories or silly tactical situations and the ever popular leading an armed rebellion after Gore gets in.

I strongly support the RKBA and hate it when the group makes itself look stupid.

Who am I to determine what is stupid - only my first amendment rights! But I don't back down when someone decides to flame away.

Maybe I've been to hard on one group member but when I was younger (old toot now) here, I used to counsel youth. You saw some who always got into trouble and looked for such as to get group approval and or sympathy. It became a increasing cycle of behavior.

Putting your house at risk for the flag and then ignoring the letters is such behavior, esp. when anonymous Internet commandos egg you on. Other behaviors, like approaching traffic stops and seeing lots of suspect activity that makes one want to use a firearm - is just like these kids - there was always an incident that they got involved in.

I worry that such a person starts to seek and exaggerate behavior for our group approval.

So that's me. I've seen this story before.

PS - That's a great story because it was spontaneous. But remeber the guy who sent an expanded version of the same theme to a school newspaper and got crucified. That's an example of stupid behavior that hurts the cause.

Not offended and I whet my axe on to defend the RKBA and keep us in the realm of reality.

The UN is coming, The Boy Scouts are Fighting them. Illegal aliens are stealing my wash.
Arrrgh.

Boy, talk about thread drift with a sharp stick.

On the subject. I think that tale has been around long enough that it is being used on assorted occaisions, even if it were spun from whole cloth originaly.
