I came across an ad for the local gun shop. They had .40 or 9mm Gold Dots for $12.99, so when my roommate asked me to go, I went with him so I could buy some .40 for my CZ.
When I walked out of the gun shop, I carried a Romanian AK47 SAR-1 and somehow forgot the ammo. I had a Mini-14 and wanted to replace it with something more reliable.
So, for a few hours, the Mini-14 was up for sale until my roommate asked me if I really wanted to get rid of the Mini-14. I said that I would, so he said, "Would you trade it?"
Now, I am the proud owner of an AK and a Beretta 92G Elite II. Of course, I had to throw in an old .38 revolver in my trade, but I think it was a good day for me.
After looking at the AK and the Ruger Mini, I find the flaw in Ruger's design to be the little hole in the front of the mag that is suppose to connect to the post in the magazine well. It seems kind of "Mickey Mouse" compared to the AK mags.
I guess I'll be sure the next time I'm in the mood for a 14 design, it'll be a M1A. But I sure did like the Colt AR-15 Match I picked up and if it were the same price of the AK, I would be telling you about shooting .223s out of a different gun.
...and while I was buying my AK, I thought, I'm glad I don't have a wife to explain why I bought this thing...
