Lets say they pass laws banning AR rifles, or they pass laws banning handguns, or they pass laws banning magazines that hold over 10 rounds, or they pass laws prohibiting having guns in your car whether they're loaded or not, or they pass some other laws that restrict gun ownership and use, I could go on and on. Now, lets say Im a police officer and I refuse to enforce such laws, then what?

Laws only work if they're enforced and an officer or department might refuse to enforce a law if they don't agree with it.

I would assume law enforcement officers can't pick and choose what laws they like or don't like.

Nearly all such laws are selectively enforced.
Often it is a "piling on" to show you are a Really Bad Person or to have something readily proven by physical evidence in case a snitch on the main charge waffles.

Or maybe if they are out to get you.
Kind of like sending Al Capone up on income tax fraud.

But a cop who doesn't enforce such a law when told to will likely be out of work.
